Mystical Tibet & India Group

Get to know each other before we leave!

1st the 6 Tucson, AZ Folks

2nd the 4 Family / Friends Group from AZ & UT

3rd the 3 Canadian Adventurers

(Grouping now will help your mind remember each other later.)

Hello All, I'm Gary Chaplin of Tucson, Arizona. My current claim to fame while on this planet (I'm just a visitor here) is being Ellie Drew's boy toy. I keep her company, take her to dinner, provide her with eye candy, (which motivates me to shower and comb my hair). In addition I produce miscellaneous and sundry man services on an 'as-needed' basis. It's tough duty, but someone's gotta do it! I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing the adventure in India/Nepal/Tibet!

Dear Mystical Travelers,

I won't say a word about what Gary had to write, but I will say he's great fun and we've traveled together to Mexico, Hawaii, China (with my youngest son, Koll), and to the very hot (but wonderful) Bali - where this picture was taken when he tried his first Durian fruit expereince - (Smells like a sewer but tastes "sweet and nutty with a custard texture.") It's the horned fruit in the pic and Gary didn't eat much of it!

But travel is an adventure with many textures to be experienced. If you don't try the new things you will never grow.

Blessings & Joy, Ellie

Hello All, (From Linda)

I’m Linda, the other one in the picture above. Months ago I had an intuitive hit to sign up for this trip but my pragmatic self kept making excuses… all the way up to the deadline! Even though I may argue like this with Spirit, I am learning that in the end, it is simply better to “get out of the way” and let Spirit be the Director. (Besides, Spirit is much more stubborn than me, I never end up “winning” these arguments any way!) Life unfolds in magical ways when I am able to let go and trust. Coming on this trip is an example of this and I am so excited to share this adventure with all of you.

I’ve always been a nomad at heart and so I love traveling and change. A few years ago I sold my house and gave away most of my possessions in preparation for the next stage of my journey. Although it was a little difficult for my college-age son to see his home vanish, he has been very supportive.

I’ve always lived a life of service (as a social worker and then as a nurse) but now see that as evolving into something more spiritual and global. I think I may finally be ready to “come out of the closet.” For so much of my life, I tried to suppress my true self to fit in and please others. I became very skilled at putting on masks. However, I could never maintain it for too long and the rebel/warrior within me would rise up and shake things up in the conventional life I had built. Energy has always been very real to me and it feels like it is time to share what it is I “see,” “fee,l” and “know.” (My past life ‘buddies’ are just a little nervous about all of this … I think they’ve experienced one too many burnings at the stake!)

I’m so looking forward to seeing this part of the world and the Himalayas. I absolutely love being in nature and this is where/how I connect with Spirit and re-energize. I’m also excited about the power of this group and am looking forward to what we can manifest together.

Many Blessings, Linda

Hi Everybody, (From Fred)

I’m Fred (sometimes I go by Victor). It seems quite serendipitous that I am among this group of travelers. Just noticed that I am the only male and wonder what significance that may have. Spirit, I trust, always leads me wherever I need to go. I’m very excited about meeting, traveling and growing with all of you.

Others describe me as open and friendly and I enjoy connecting with people at the heart level. I am a spiritual seeker who enjoys living simply, laughter, being in nature, spontaneity, travel, being my own person, and pondering the mysteries of the universe and how we all fit together. This natural curiosity and fascination with life have kept me very young at heart. My purpose in life is to use sensitivity, insight and wisdom to connect spiritually with others, travel, enjoy nature and express my creativity so that everyone can feel free to follow their bliss in a loving environment. My goals are inner peace, that my presence has a positive effect on the planet, and to see reflected back to me from those I encounter what I love about myself.

Astrologically, I’m a double Pisces with Sagittarius rising and psychologically, an INFP (just barely an I). I have two grown children and one grandchild age 2. Originally I’m from Virginia so people sometimes think I talk funny but I’ve never noticed it. Linda and I have been partners for four years and I see relationship as a spiritual path. This period in my life seems one of great and swift expansion and I’m eager to see where this trip will ultimately lead.

Peace, love, light and laughter, Fred

Hi everyone,

My name is Jennifer Beard. Feel free to call me Jen, Jenny, or Jennifer as I go by all three. I've known Ellie for several years now, and know this trip will be very special. Like most of you, I felt called to go on this trip. I'm not sure why, but I do know that it is for the betterment of myself and others.

My home is hot and sunny Tucson Arizona, where I've lived most of my life. I've raised two kids alone – a daughter 25, and son 19. Now I currently live with my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years. He's taught me a great deal about love.

To know me is to know that I am a cat lover! I presently have 5 cats, and nearly a hundred cat something-or-others. I am an honest, open, positive, strong, expressive, and fiery personality! If you haven't guessed by those traits, I am a Sagittarius.

For the last 17 years I've worked as a Massage Therapist / Therapeutic Intuitive. My work has given me a unique perspective on how we hold, move, change, and deal with physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energies throughout the body. The technique I use in my bodywork was channeled through me 9 years ago. Since then I have worked solely from home as my life have changed immensely.

This picture of me was taken last year in the rain forest in Costa Rica. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited!

I am looking forward to meeting, and sharing this magical, mystical, adventure with you all! Namaste, Jennifer

Greetings Everyone,

Thank you for this opportunity to go on this sacred trip with all of you. After reading all of the emails from Ellie I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this journey. I have wanted to go to Tibet for many many years. Then Nepal began to call to me in early 2000. Now in the past year, especially the past 5 months India is calling to me. All for reasons of Spiritual Journeying and Awakening to a new level of Awareness. There is always more...

I have been a seeker all of my life. As a child in Catholic Schools, I would go into church at recess and light candles and just contemplate things. I really liked the quiet and the solitude. Later I discovered Yogananda and was deeply drawn to his teachings as he brought east to west, and had plenty of room in his heart, mind and teaching s to include Christ. I have always believed Christ was in the FAR EAST learning before he started teaching. I always felt there was a connection, a Oneness to all of this back then. I also feel connected in my heart to that time and place.

When I began to study Buddhism and attend audiences with His Holiness the Dalai Lama I felt even closer and more of a calling to visit the far East and hike the Himalaya's. Hinduism and Buddhism as well as Christianity and Judaism all resonate the same essence to me. Its been a journey thus far of education and mind. Now I look forward to experiencing and walking the land, and meeting these peoples of such a sacred place. I long to create a similar existence here, in my home, or where ever I am at,of similar Holiness.

As you can tell, Spirituality is always on my mind and my desire to live it. I am pretty easy going. I go with the flow well. I like adventure and spontaneity. I am a peacemaker, and love to love. I, for one, will have to pay attention to Public Display of Affection. Being a massage therapist, I am very affectionate.

I have been a therapist for 21+ years at Canyon Ranch Health Resort. I have an 18 yr. daughter, who just graduated high school and just moved out of the house. She is working and will be going to school in August. I am in the middle of a divorce, and selling our home, so I am pretty busy with legal hard stuff. Not my forte. With my daughter and husband gone, and selling my house, I feel called to journey the world for my own growth. Thank you again for including me on this sacred trip to India/Nepal/Tibet.

Namaste! Kit E.Bornstein

The 4 Mystical Travelers as Family & Friends - Audree, Kare, Susan, Nancy

#1

Audree Juhlin

Sedona, AZ, USA

ajuhlin@yahoo.com

Hi, I am Audree.  I am married to a cop and the mother of two – a 24-year old daughter who firmly believes she is a Goddess and a 16-year old son who has all the attitude of a spunky teenage boy.  My other ‘kids’ include a special Yorkie named Mikko which means ‘gift from God’ and the most loving Silky dog named Bailey who’s sole purpose in this life time is to give and receive love. I have been accused of loving these two little puppy dogs more than my own kids, which I adamantly deny, but secretly wonder if there isn’t an element of truth…

I work for the City of Sedona in Community Development which provides me the opportunity to look at ways to help protect our precious natural resource, Earth. I have worked in city government for over 20 years in several special places - Mililani Hawaii, Park City Utah, and now Sedona, Arizona. I live just outside Sedona in Cottonwood, a small, close-knit community in northern Arizona. I have acquired an affection for antiques from my mom, Kare and Aunt Susie – decorating most of my house in cute old things. Every time my mom comes to visit, she rearranges my home, which is no easy feat as it is very small.

I am also a dowser and part of a small committee who hosts a successful dowsing conference every other year in Flagstaff. This event which offers over 60 diverse sessions, pre- and post-conference workshops, features speakers from all over the world, including the ever popular Ellie Drew, and usually draws over 400 participants. We are in the process of planning the 2007 conference which takes place the first of October. This year’s conference includes two very special events, Ellie Drew’s Sacred Forgiveness Ceremony and a keynote address and post conference workshop by Gregg Braden.

I am lucky to be able to share this adventure into China, India and Tibet with my best friend and mother, Kare and my favorite Auntie Susie! These are two of the dearest people you will ever meet. You have heard about sisters who live together, happily, blissfully, till the day they die, that would be these two, except they don’t technically live together… just work together. However, I believe one day they will live together, giggling at all the silly things life has to offer.

Can’t wait to meet you in October, Audree

Kare Taylor

Sandy, UT, USA

taylorkare@yahoo.com

Hi, I am Kare Taylor.  I live in Sandy Utah with my long time partner, Larry Gray (known as 'Cowboy Larry' / 'Lucky Larry'), and the cat, LuLu.  LuLu and I share a very special soul connection. I have four children, and five grandchildren spread out across the country. My youngest child, Kurt, age 30, tragically died last year near Bishop California. In addition to being a kind and gentle outdoorsman, he was one of the best nurses this world has ever seen.

I have recently retired from the trucking industry and absolutely love retirement! Larry and I love to gamble – our game of choice is video poker; however, I would love to learn how to play poker at the tables – ironically, this thought terrifies me! We try to make it out to Nevada at least once every few months.

I now work, part-time in an herb shop for my new boss, best friend and sister, Susan Westmoreland, more affectionately known as Susie.  My hobbies include drawing, making greeting cards, dream interpretation, antiquing and of course gambling.  Occasionally, I teach classes at the herb shop on subjects such as depression, toning and dream interpretation.  I am also interested in drug and alcohol counseling.

Susie and our friend Nancy, as well as my oldest daughter, Audree are also going with us on this special adventure. I am looking forward to meeting and sharing this exciting opportunity with each of you. Ellie is a very special person and I know she is organizing a journey that none of us will soon forget. Thank you Ellie for this wonderful experience!  See you all in October!

Affectionately, Kare

Susan Westmoreland

Lindon, UT , USA

theoremherbshop@sisna.com

Hello fellow adventurers!

I am Susan Westmoreland, however, those close to me, call me Susie. I am the mother of four and the grandmother of seven. I am the proud owner of a small herb shop in Orem Utah. My claim to fame is my most famous customer, Marie Osmond. I love the herb shop and spend much of my time there.

My other passion, which I share with my sister, Kare, is antiques. If I didn’t have the herb shop I know Kare and I would own and run an antique store. So, to make the best of both worlds, we have decorated every corner of the herb shop with lots of beautiful antiques, creating an inviting, relaxing atmosphere where our customers feel so at home, they often spend hours browsing and chatting.

I love living a healthy lifestyle, concentrating on natural foods, products and remedies. I love to share my knowledge with my customers and treat them as my extended family. I am very careful what I put into my body. I believe the first thing everyone needs to do is look at their diet. Whether they are a large person or a small one, everyone should eat healthy - drinking plenty of water, eating the correct foods such as raw vegetables and fruits and nuts as well as proper supplements.  I believe what you put into your body determines how healthy you are. I love to help my customers understand this, helping them achieve and maintain a healthy whole body, mind and soul. It seems that this is my purpose in this lifetime.

I can’t wait to meet each and every one of you. I am really looking forward to a few days away from the shop, although I still need to find someone to take over while we are off gallivanting in the Far East.

See you all soon! Susie

Hello to you, fellow Mystical Journeyers,

Well, here I am at home in Canada. I am filled with anticipation of life's journey. What a ride and what a time to be alive. I know each of us will have our own amazing experiences as we travel together to far off lands. I look forward and am open to personal growth and sharing as we join together on this journey that each of us has been called upon. I look forward to this trip as an adventure and a pilgrimage. I love living in the moment/being present. I've been working on/towards this for many a year!

I learn, absorb, discover, approach and see things through a wholistic view. I am an artist. I have worked in a variety of media, but love to create using collage [cutting, pasting/sewing and reorganizing]. My art is created while in a meditative state. I love textures and colours and am mainly using textiles at present. My senses will be wild with the fabrics of India and Tibet. Does anyone want to go shopping?

I'm a retired school teacher. I've facilitated the learning of students of all ages. I was in the Public School system, off and on. Had difficulty coping with the bureaucracy and quit a few times. I love to dance. I do African dancing, with a group of women, weekly. Oh yes, I have a husband, Albert, we have been together for 43 years – we've learned a lot and done a lot of growing. He's very grounded and loves to be in his territory at home and out in the hills. I have 2 daughters, Marla and Coreen and 3 granddaughters – Jasmine, Selena and Kizea. Being a Grandma is much easier and more fun than being a mom.

Love, Peace and Joy! Akira

On February 15th, 2006, I had the opportunity to meet alone with Ellie Drew. Almost the first thing she said: “I’m immediately drawn to the Himalayan mountains. Have you felt a call to go to Nepal or Tibet? I have such a feeling of you going East. It feels like there’s something very strong there for you. India is from your past. [There is information behind] the doors in your mind. When you get the energy imprint, the doors will open and there will be a remembering.” (This is not exactly what she said as I have edited it a bit, but pretty close and you will get the gist). Ellie’s words clearly resonated in my life, and I determined a short time thereafter that I would go to India / Nepal within the year. It didn’t happen in 2006, but you can imagine how delighted I was to hear early in 2007 that Ellie was planning a trip and how badly I wanted to go with her. Who better to go with? The “Queen of Manifesting” will be a useful travel companion in countries where [I hear] nothing goes quite as expected. I am just as sure that each one of you is meant to be on this mystic trip with me and that it’s not a coincidence that we are together in this.

Who am I? Who knows? I have gone through human evolution to arrive at this point where I try hard to live out my dreams now, rather than at some future time. I live in the middle of a forest in a rural area that I moved to in 2003. Finding this property was in reply to a long search for a place that was high in energy and undisturbed by human beings. I have a co-creative garden (à la Perelandra, for those of you that might have heard of it) and my love is to grow things from seed, mainly native plants, in partnership with nature intelligences. This does not support my life financially, but it is what I love to do. The job I currently have supports my life work like a close fitting glove, including allowing me to work from home.

I live here with my eighteen year old son, 2 spirited dogs and a perfect cat. I’ve been a Buddhist for over 20 years, but belong to a Japanese sect rather than the Tibetan one. I am interested in birds, frogs, insects (particularly pollinators) as well as trees, shrubs and plants. I am a dowser, but not a dedicated one.

When we go: I hope to attend some cultural events (music, dance, art) in India / Nepal / Tibet as well as to visit as many temples as possible. I’d love to see some botanical gardens but a library copy of Fodor’s (2002) doesn’t show too many of these where we are going. If opportunity allows, I’d love to do a short hike into the mountains to see if I can find some “alpine” plants.

I love to shop for just about anything and am looking forward to going to markets with Akira to look for woven goods, bags, and those beautiful cotton pants with the matching knee-length tunics that the women wear. I’d like to buy a ring or some piece of jewellery as a memento of this magical adventure, or perhaps just some semi-precious stones. I’m interested in looking at the carpets, but realize I will be limited in what I can bring back. I could spend a long time in an ayurvedic herb shop, particularly if I could find a shop-keeper that spoke English. Looking forward to eating much Indian food and then more again! And I am very much looking forward to getting to know my travelling “sisters” so that when I return I can pick up a phone and just call to reminisce.

I am a mother of 4, and one grandchild who is 10 months old and a joy to have around. Since our youngest daughter left the nest 3 years ago, I have been delving into nature, art, spirituality, meditation, drumming, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, and workshops of all sorts. One of these workshops that I thoroughly enjoyed was Ellie's Conscious Manifesting, and now I find myself going to India and Tibet. Yahoo! I am a novice traveller but plan to change that.

I am a laboratory and x-ray technician and expect to retire in 1.5 yrs and so am exploring different options for part time employment in a less stressful environment. My job is very demanding with standby and a lot of calls in the night. I would also like to get involved in some sort of global humanitarion projects but haven't had time to look into that yet.

I have been doing a lot of reading in the last 5 years or so and never enjoyed reading much before that. Now I just can't read fast enough to get through all the amazing books that are out there and on my bookshelves, plus all the interesting emails that I've been getting. Some of my favorite authors are Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Caroline Myss, Ted Andrews and Louise Hay. I love art classes and also plan to do some ballroom dancing soon.

In the past I was always focused on the family but now that our kids are gone, I'm open and anxious to explore and experience more of life and all it's dimensions. I am very excited about this trip for many reasons. I am stepping out of my comfort zone to explore different countries, cultures, languages, landscapes, etc. plus experience new relationships with like-minded interesting people. I can hardly wait. See you all soon.

As soon as I figure out how to send you a picture through email, I will do that.

Aloha...I just found out that this means ..in the presence of the Breath of Life that connects us all.
